How does Verified by Visa work?

In order to participate in Verified by Visa, you have to register. During your registration, you will create a username and password. Every time you shop at a participating Verified by Visa merchant, you will be asked to enter the username and password, which will be verified, before completing the transaction.

Many merchants participate in the Verified by Visa program. When you shop at merchants that do not participate, the Password will not be required.

Do I need to apply for a new card to use Verified by Visa?

No, a new card is not required. SGE Credit Union has automatically enrolled your existing card for Verified by Visa, providing you with additional protection when you use your card online.

What happens if I lose/someone steals my card and a new one is re-issued?

In case of re-issuance of a new card, you will need to register the new card number to the program, because the credentials you have created refer to the card number of the previous card.

What happens if my card expires and a renewal is send to me?

The credentials you have created are still valid, as long as the card number is the same. If the card number changes, then you will need to reregister for Verified By Visa.

Do I have to pay for Verified by Visa?

This service is provided to you free of charge.

Will the Verified by Visa transaction look any different on my statement?

No, the purchase will appear as a normal transaction on your SGE Credit Union statement. These transactions will not appear any different to other purchases made using a Visa card.

Do I need any special equipment or software on my computer to use Verified by Visa?

No. All you need is an Internet connection and browser such as Internet Explorer. Most web browsers are compatible with the Verified by Visa service.

Can I use Verified by Visa from any computer?

Yes, you can use Verified by Visa from any computer with an internet connection and which has an internet browser such as Internet Explorer.

Where can I shop with Verified by Visa?

Look for the Verified by Visa logo on participating online stores.

How will the online store know that I have Verified by Visa?

Participating online stores will automatically recognise your Visa card number for the Verified by Visa service.

No, we will never send you an email asking for your personal details. Ignore and immediately delete any suspicious email that asks you to access our web site to provide any of your personal details.
